CL Series Clamp-On Chain Wheel

Valves aren’t always situated in easy to access locations. Often, gaining access to open or close a valve necessitates dangerous climbing or maneuvering. Our CL Series Chain Wheel can be installed in minutes and provides an easy, inexpensive way to ensure employee safety and effective valve operation. Opening and closing valves becomes as easy as standing at ground level and simply pulling the chain to operate the chain wheel above.

  • Ductile Iron Clamp-on Chain Sprocket fits hand wheel sizes from 2 to 26 inches in diameter
  • Clamps on to existing hand wheel for safe, effective manual valve operation
  • All units come complete with sprocket wheel, chain guide, set collar, zinc plated
  • All CL Series wheels are available in galvanized

When ordering, provide diameter of existing hand wheel and length of chain required.

CAUTION:

  1. Whenever a chain wheel is installed, provision must be made to KEEP THE VALVE HANDWHEEL RETAINING NUT FROM BACKING OFF THE STEM. This best done by installing a SET SCREW that secures the nut to the stem.
  2. All chain wheel installations, regardless of age, must be regularly inspected as part of the user’s Safety/Maintenance Procedures. Set screws and other threaded fasteners MUST be secure and tight.
  3. As an additional safeguard, Roto Hammer strongly recommends that ALL chain wheels be fitted with an appropriately sized Roto Hammer RCK Safety Cable Kit available from your local distributor or Roto Hammer Industries.

C Series Clamp-on Chain Wheel

The C Series is the original Roto Hammer® line of chain wheels, patented over 50 years ago. While similar to our newer CL line in most ways, C Series wheels are substantially more robust and are ideal for the heaviest industrial applications and environments. For valves that withstand heavy use or that are located in highly corrosive environments, the C Series is ideal.

  • Ductile Iron Clamp-on Chain Sprocket fits hand wheel sizes from 6 to 40 inches in diameter
  • Clamps on to existing hand wheel for safe, effective manual valve operation
  • All units come complete with sprocket wheel, chain guide, set collar, zinc plated hardware and installation instructions
  • C30 and C40 sizes are also available in galvanized

E Series Direct-Mount Chain Wheel

The E Series Direct-Mount Chain Wheel is designed to provide a truly custom fit. Instead of clamping on to the existing hand wheel, the E Series mounts directly to the valve stem and replaces the hand wheel. This eliminates the need for multiple clamps and hardware sets and provides a more streamlined, secure fitting
of the chain wheel to the valve. The E Series can be bored to customer specifications or shipped solid for machining by the customer.

  • Aluminum E Series replaces hand wheel sizes from 4 to 30-1/4 inches
  • Ductile iron E Series replaces hand wheel sizes from 8-9/16 to 30-1/4 inches
  • All units come complete with sprocket wheel, chain guide, set collar and installation instructions
  • Available in ductile iron or light-weight aluminum
  • Mounts directly to the valve stem and replaces the existing hand wheel
  • Center hub is available blank or machined to fit customer requirements

  4. Maintain Handwheel and Operator – Retention of the chain wheel operator on valve stem is dependent on the handwheel remaining on the valve stem. The handwheel retaining nut MUST be secured with a set screw.

Galvanized Chain Wheel

Especially harsh operating environments sometimes necessitate an extra level of protection for chain wheels. Many chain wheels are used in the petrochemical industry, where they are exposed to chemicals, extreme temperature or humidity. In such cases, we offer galvanized chain wheels to extend the life of the product in corrosive environments.

Galvanizing is also ideal for high moisture environments (such as offshore or marine) where corrosion resistance is important. Our entire CL Series line of chain wheels is available in galvanized, as well as the C30 and C40.

CAUTION:

  1. Whenever a chain wheel is installed, provision must be made to keep the VALVE HAND WHEEL RETAINING NUT FROM BACKING OFF THE STEM! This is best done by installing a SET SCREW that secures the nut to the stem.
  2. All chain wheel installations, regardless of age, must be regularly inspected as part of the user’s Safety/Maintenance procedures. Set screws and other threaded fasteners MUST be secure and tight.
  3. As an additional safeguard, Roto Hammer strongly recommends that ALL chain wheels be fitted with an appropriately sized ROTO HAMMER RETAINING CABLE SAFETY KIT available from your local distributor or Roto Hammer Industries.
  4. Maintain Handwheel and Operator – Retention of the chain wheel operator on valve stem is dependent on the handwheel remaining on the valve stem. The handwheel retaining nut MUST be secured with a set screw.

Stainless Steel Chain Wheel

Especially harsh operating environments sometimes necessitate an extra level of protection for chain wheels. Many chain wheels are used in the petrochemical industry, where they are exposed to chemicals, extreme temperature or humidity. In such cases, we offer stainless steel chain wheels to extend the life of the product in corrosive environments.

Stainless steel is also ideal for high moisture environments (such as offshore or marine) where corrosion resistance is important. Our entire CL Series line of chain wheels is available in stainless steel. All components of the chain wheel are constructed of 316 stainless steel.

CAUTION:

  1. Whenever a chain wheel is installed, provision must be made to keep the VALVE HAND WHEEL RETAINING NUT FROM BACKING OFF THE STEM! This is best done by installing a SET SCREW that secures the nut to the stem.

Custom Painted Chain Wheels

All Roto Hammer® Chain Wheels are primed in the trademark Roto Hammer blue color. However, we understand that some customers prefer a custom color to match their facilities. In these situations, we are happy to custom paint any of our chain wheels to match a customer specified color. Please contact us for information on pricing and lead time for custom painted wheels.
